Working on networking!
I have just been to an event where I was entertained by Karen Schmidt (www.letsgrow.com.au). She gave some
hints on successful networking that I would like to share with you:
After meeting someone who you have connected with (this means do more than Hello, here is my business card, can I have yours??!!) ……..exchange contact details and
- follow up with them (email, postcard)
- share information (flick through email articles that might be of interest to them)
- keep in regular contact (newsletter)
- become part of their on line network (fan on facebook, linkedin)
- refer people to them (referring business )
- ask for their help / assistance
- on sell their products to your network (she sells a book written by someone else that complements her products)
I took away some ideas on what I can do better when I next am in a networking situation…..what about you?

Thanks for the hints this week. I am not very confident with networking in groups of people I don’t know. What do you think Karen would suggest I do to make it easier to meet new people?

The secret is to let them do the talking! Ask them something about their business/property/family/interests to get the conversation started. People love talking about things they have passion for.
